A new hearing to examine the case of ex-Prime Minister Vlad Filat was postponed until January 26. Prosecutor Adriana Betisor told the journalists that the deferral was asked by the defense and the defendant. The hearing last week was also put off, IPN reports.
According to Adriana Betisor, both of the lawyers invoked job-related reasons that prevent them from attending the January 21 hearing. Vlad Filat filed a similar application, arguing his defense cannot come to the hearing.
The case of Vlad Filat was sent to court on December 23, 2015. The former Premier is accused of taking 800 million lei bribe. He was arrested on charges of influence peddling and passive corruption last October and faces 7 to 15 years behind bars and ban on holding particular public posts.
